Mark has twenty years' experience delivering strategic advice to organisations across a multitude of industries. Before founding Espenaus Consulting, Mark spent 12 years at J.P. Morgan where he led the European media & internet equity research team, advising institutional investors on industry trends, company research and equity valuations, and participating in many equity capital raisings in the online space. Mark also spent three years in Investment Banking at UBS and J.P. Morgan, and a further three years working as a Strategy Consultant at FOXTEL, where he helped transition the company from analogue to digital TV.

We created this site from a blank page - without templates, without any prior knowledge of HTML, CSS, and building websites. The steps taken to create this site from start to finish are much of the same steps we take when providing client solutions.
We started by researching the competition. Most management consultant and strategy consutlancy sites have a generic look and feel - often lots of people wearing glasses sitting around laptops, and all very serious. While client engagement, collaboration, teamwork, experience and use of strategic models and tools is essential, these should be a given for any strategy consultancy. We have them too. But you need more.
Instead, we wanted our consultancy to stand out from the competition, be remembered, and clearly convey our message - much the same way we seek to fully understand your organisation and provide solutions that best fit your needs and help you to stand out.
Having understood the competition, our organisation's position in the market, and how that should be reflected in our site, we looked at off-the-shelf website templates and quickly found we needed a bespoke solution instead. We then had two choices - pay someone to build our bespoke site or do it ourselves.
A quick feasibility study assessed our capabilities (we watched some online lectures and tried building some site basics), the needs and complexity of our intended site, and the cost (our time vs paying a developer) led us to the optimal solution to build it our selves.
We planned out the content and structure of our site. We searched for just the right photos to provide the consistency and brand messaging that we sought. We quickly finished online courses on HTML, CSS and Javascript to gain the necessary skills, and sought help from tech experts on a very small number of more difficult aspects.
